How the coloring page pixel size calculator works

Required pixels = physical inches × target DPI, rounded up so you never end a hair under. The physical size depends on what the image covers:

Bleed canvas = trim width + 0.125", trim height + 0.25" — for edge-to-edge art.
Trim canvas = the page itself, for no-bleed layouts.
Live area = trim minus gutter and outside margins — for art that stays inside margins.

Worked example: full-bleed 8.5" × 11" page

Canvas: 8.625" × 11.25". At 300 DPI: 8.625 × 300 = 2587.5 → 2588 px wide, and 11.25 × 300 = 3375 px tall. Generate at 2588 × 3375 (ratio ≈ 23:30) or a clean multiple like 5176 × 6750 for headroom.

Common mistakes

Choosing canvas size before trim size. Pick the trim first — pixels follow from it, not the other way around.
Generating square images for portrait pages. A 1:1 image on a 17:22 page means cropping art or leaving bands.
